Jose James - The Dreamer [Chronicle]

We start the year 2010 by a series of columns back, devoted to José James. Young Jazzman from the prolific New York scene and recently signed with the label belonging to Brownswood Gilles Peterson . In 2008 James had dazzled her world with her first album in tribute to Martin Luther King " The Dreamer", unanimously acclaimed by the critics. So to start the year smoothly CrazySongz that invites you to (re) discover the future of jazz at all.

Born In 1983, James rocks mainly in Hip Hop. However, it was 14 years listening to the radio that he falls in love with the jazz greats of the era: Duke Ellington , Billie Holiday and John Coltrane especially . An influence that will help build his own style, perfect synthesis between Hip Hop and Jazz.

Symbiosis Hip Hop / Jazz takes the form of catchy melodies and haunting, which the quartet of talent that comes with James help to relax the listener. Of course, beyond the noise under control, is convinced that José vocally on this 1st album. Halfway between Vikter Duplaix and Gil Scott Heron, he managed to impose his own style "Latin crooner" by proposing to his voice warm and comforting a mature album and succeeds.

Finally, in addition to sensitivity and groove expressed on the album tracks as "Park Bench People" or "Velvet" is the maturity and spontaneity that James emerges as fascinating ultimately. A master's disconcerting that promises a future place among the greatest of his generation. Need we say more? First album, the first no-fault except for a tracklist pretty skinny. We take pleasure in every way to support once again play to enjoy an album that will enchant your ears at night.
